When you are traveling to Malaysia, obviously you are going to arrive in its capital city of Kuala Lumpur, mainly because the country’s international airport is located there.
But, Malaysia actually has plenty of nice places to visit and although Kuala Lumpur is always full of sights and sounds, Melaka has them too.
Whether you call it Melaka or Malacca, it really doesn’t matter. But, what matters is that you do visit this place when you are in Malaysia.
Do not worry, you are not going to be along if you get some escort girls while you travel around. Today, I am going to be talking about the top things to do in Melaka so that you do not have to scour the internet for the same information.
Walk Around the City to Appreciate Some Street Art
There is one thing that Melaka can offer that you cannot really find in Kuala Lumpur and that’s some amazing street art. Just walk around the city and you will find plenty of buildings that have amazing and cutesy art that is definitely worthy of your Instagram.
If you do not want to walk around but still want to appreciate street art, you can take a cruise along the Melaka River as a great alternative as well.
Sip Some Coffee in Some of the City’s Best Cafes
Despite the fact that Melaka is much tamer than Kuala Lumpur, it actually still has some contemporary places you can visit. I am a sucker for coffee and I cannot really start my day without one.
Fortunately, there are a lot of great cafes that not only provide me with my caffeine fix, but also offers plenty of breakfast and snacks that complement it as well.
I suggest that you try some vegetarian foods over the Geography café or perhaps you want to start your day right and eat hearty breakfast foods, head on over the Navy Navy café.
Visit the Different Museums in the Metro
Melaka is rich in culture and heritage which are reasons why UNESCO included Melaka as a world heritage site. That being said, there are plenty of different museums that you can visit that will give you the information that you need if you wish to find out more about the Western powers that have colonized the city.
If you want to know more about the Portuguese Colonization period, I urge you to go to the Maritime Museum. This place is shipped like a traditional Portuguese vessel which makes the experience worthwhile.
You can also go to the Cheng Ho Cultural Museum if you want to learn more about the Chinese influence in the country.
Take a Trike in Melaka
Go to Red Square to find plenty of fun and colorful trike rides that will deliver you to the many different spots in the area.
What I love about these trike rides is that they usually follow a cartoon theme. I’ve personally ridden a Hello Kitty! Trike but
there are plenty of others that you can find in the square as well.
Eat Some Delicious Food
If you want inexpensive but delicious foods, I definitely advise you to visit the Jonker Night Market. Here, you will find plenty of different foods such as Nyonya and Peranakan-inspired dishes, Indian foods, and traditional Malay foods, among others.
